Abby Schachter

Abby W. Schachter is a Pittsburgh-based writer and blogger.

A working journalist since 1991, Abby has served as a politics and pop culture blogger, an op-ed page and books editor, a foreign correspondent, an editorial writer, and most recently a libertarian columnist and Jewish commentator for such publications as the New York Post, the Pittsburgh Tribune Review, the Jerusalem Post, the Jerusalem Report, the Forward, the Washington Times, and the Pittsburgh Jewish Chronicle.

Abby is currently writing her first book entitled Captain Mommy vs. the Nanny State: How government rules, regulations & bans get between parents and their kids.

Abby is a regular contributor to Reason and Acculturated and her writings have appeared in the Wall Street Journal, the Weekly Standard, Commentary, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Bee Magazine, Tablet, and the Jewish Review of Books.

Abby is a graduate of McGill University in her hometown of Montreal and she has an MA in History from Brandeis University.

Between journalism stints, Abby spent a few years in corporate America working at Sanford Bernstein and Co., Inc. and McKinsey and Company.

When not working, Abby spends her days in Iron City raising four children with her artist husband Ben Schachter.
