Looks like AARP is set to endorse the Democrats’ health care plans, despite the fact that the plans contain billions of dollars in cuts to Medicare and do not specifically prohibit the government from using cost-effectiveness research to delay or deny access to life-saving care to Medicare recipients – both provisions that directly work against their members’ interests.
The Washington Post had an expose of AARP’s motivations last week, illuminating how much of the association’s revenue comes from the sale of Medigap programs (which will be subject to special treatment under the Dem bills – what a coincidence!)
