The food nannies are sobbing into their homemade, taste-free muesli this morning at news that…wait for it…cereal contains SUGAR!!!!!!!!

AHHHHHHH!!

Yup. It does!  Wanna know why?  Because kids are annoying and they like lots of sweet things.

But what the food nannies fail to mention is that these sugary cereals also contain a lot of good things, like vitamins and fiber and other nutrients important for kids.  Most importantly, cereal is a good vehicle for milk–consumption of which is down among children (thanks skim-milk pushers!).

Of course, no one wants to see a kid live on a diet of sugary cereals, but is that really happening? Of course not.  But food nannies and government regulators love this stuff.  They'll use this news to urge new regulations, sugar limits, mandatory labelling, and outright bans.  And of course they'll use it to revive their floundering attempts to get the government to ban food manufacturers from advertizing their food products.

It's a good day to be a regulator; a bad day to be a parent begging their kids to "eat!"
