How Much Money Do K-12 Schools Get?

For the 2009-10 school year, American public schools received an average of more than $10,652, excluding funding for capital construction and debt, according to the U.S. Department of Education. (PDF, table 4). All told, local, state, and federal funding for public schools was just shy of $600 billion (PDF, table 1).
