Former mayor of New York City and 7th richest man in the world Michael Bloomberg thinks the poor need to be taxed more. It's for their own good, he argues in a new clip out from a conversation he with the International Monetary Fund's Christine Lagarde.
In the clip, Bloomberg calls tax hikes "a good thing" and says it will prolong the lives of poor people if they are prevent from buying so many things that are bad for their health, like sugary drinks.

Says Bloomberg:
“Some people say, well, taxes are regressive. But in this case, yes they are. That's the good thing about them because the problem is in people that don't have a lot of money. And so, higher taxes should have a bigger impact on their behavior and how they deal with themselves."
Bloomberg is a well-known nanny-state defender who just admitted on video that he supports raising taxes on the poor. That's not something progressives would normally say out loud, but with Bloomberg, I guess the cat's out of the bag.
