Congress returned yesterday and the media seemed much more interested in the liberal women elected to high office. Yet, conservative women also deserve some attention.

Consider Senator Joni Ernst, a republican from Iowa who is arguably one of the most powerful women in the country. Not only does Senator Ernst sit on five of the most powerful U.S. Senate committees–Judiciary, Environment and Public Works, Armed Services, Agriculture, and Small Business, she serves in a GOP leadership position, as the vice chair of the Republican Conference–the first woman to be elected to Senate GOP Leadership since 2009.

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade or diminish the accomplishments of the women who ran and won this last election cycle. Congratulations to all. But it would have been nice to see some equal coverage of the women elected to the House and Senate.
