Misinformation About Eating in America
A common refrain out of Washington is that obesity is an “epidemic” that has not only created poor health outcomes – but is also raising the cost of health care for all consumers. Yet simultaneously, the public also hears that more Americans than ever are going hungry. These alarmist messages are used to justify more government regulation and programs. The truth? The obesity rate in this country hasn't changed for more than a decade, and only a small percent of Americans experience hunger. For the hungry, there are a variety of government programs to help those truly in need.
