President Obama declared Tuesday “National Equal Pay Day,” representing how many extra days of 2013 women had to work to earn the same as their male counterparts did in 2012. Yet as a video from the Independent Women’s Forum shows, the statistics surrounding equal pay are skewed.
According to the video, the statistics on men and women’s salaries include all full-time workers, without taking into account that more men choose to be engineers and more women choose to be social workers, two fields that have a huge pay gap. The stats also ignore that, on average, men choose to work longer hours than women.
But when men and women are compared with regard to vocational field and their education choices, women make almost as much as men — 94 percent, instead of the 77 percent pushed by Obama and his liberal allies. Andyoung, educated women in cities make more than men in the same circumstances.
Despite the facts, liberals continue pushing the gender pay gap, making a non-issue into a big deal in the public eye. Women have a lot more to celebrate than most people think.
When it comes to workplace — and paycheck — equality, the so-called gap is more like a tiny fracture.
