"WAR ON WOMEN" RHETORIC HAS RUN ITS COURSE
Americans Want an End to Gender Politics

WASHINGTON D.C. - In a landslide Republican victory, American voters in the 2014 midterm elections rejected identity politics and voted on the issues. The "War on Women" campaign ploy has run its course and lost its political punch.

Independent Women's Forum Executive Director Sabrina Schaeffer released the following statement:

"Last night, the public rejected the vacuous 'War on Women' rhetoric and the progressive, big-government agenda. Americans, and women especially, voted for change -- not more government bloat -- so that we can have true economic growth and job creation, a vibrant educational marketplace, affordable energy, choice and competition in healthcare, a flexible workplace, and fewer burdensome regulations that hinder creativity and innovation. Americans want an end to the gender politics that have dominated the headlines for several elections and took a stand for substance and unity.

"Still, the liberty movement should understand that this victory is fragile, and that they need to continue to take women and gender differences seriously. It's important not to allow one good night to give the impression that the conversation about gender and political outreach is over or that progressives have put down their swords. This is an opportunity, instead, to think seriously about how to reach out to women, and to build lasting support for conservative ideals. That requires that we continue to offer a positive agenda and vision for how we can help women and their families succeed and create a healthier and happier society for all."
