INDEPENDENT WOMEN’S FORUM LAUNCHES REASONABLE MOMS
It’s Time To Alleviate the Crushing Pressure on Parents
And Create a New Category With Less Shaming & Judgment
(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – A new study reports that people feel that being a parent is more stressful than ever before. Today’s competitive parenting culture is making parenting harder, joyless, exhausting, and much more nerve-wracking than it needs to be.
Today, the Independent Women’s Forum (IWF) launched Reasonable Moms, an educational project with fact sheets, podcasts, and commentary, to bring commonsense back into parenting. IWF hopes to create a new, supportive category of parenting with less anxiety, mom-shaming and judgment.
“IWF created this project to be a voice of reason for parents. We want to give women the information they need to reject these damaging and counterproductive parenting trends. Moms should understand that there’s a thriving industry out there built on making them feel inadequate. We want to encourage women to trust their instincts, and remind them that it’s okay to make mistakes, just do the best you can with the resources and time you have,” said Julie Gunlock, director of the Culture of Alarmism project at the Independent Women’s Forum and mother of three young boys.
Reasonable Moms can guiltlessly take short cuts to feed their children, while still trying to make nutritious choices.
Reasonable Moms don’t believe the alarmist nonsense that everything their child eats, drinks, wears, looks at or brushes up against is going to kill them.
Reasonable Moms find parenting exhausting, entertaining, frustrating and rewarding all at once. And they take time for themselves and recognize that their children need space too.
Reasonable Moms reject the competitive-parenting culture, preferring instead to do what needs to be done to meet the demands of the day.
IWF is hosting Reasonable Moms Unite launch event on October, 19th in Washington, DC featuring Free Range Kids founder Lenore Skenazy, freelance writer Jenny Splitter, The Federalist contributor Bethany Mandel and IWF’s Culture of Alarmism project director Julie Gunlock to discuss how to fight the culture that demands parents worry about everything.
Independent Women's Forum works to improve the lives of Americans by increasing the number of women who value free-markets and personal liberty.
