Samantha Bee is acknowledging that her calling Ivanka Trump a "feckless c-word" caused pain–for Samantha Bee. Heartbreaking.

You might remember Ms. Bee's original joke. After implying incest, here is what Bee said:

“You know, Ivanka, that’s a beautiful photo of you and your child, but let me just say, one mother to another: Do something about your dad’s immigration practices, you feckless c—t!” Ms. Bee said at the time, the slur being bleeped out.

Now, I ask you, how could anybody take offense at that?

In an interview with Hollywood Reporter, Ms. Bee laments that she has been the victim of what she calls "the outrage machine" in the wake of the above witticism:

"I do think that being a part of the outrage machine is an inevitability now," she added. "That's a reality everyone has to grapple with — not just me. The level of ferocity is something I hadn't quite experienced up to that point, but I assume I'll go through it again. Maybe I'll be better prepared next time. I think we handled it well, but it was a pretty steep learning curve."

Poor Samantha.

Bee seems surprised that her  "her swift public apology" didn't immediately put the matter to rest:

"It affected me a lot," explained Bee. "I've been thinking a lot about it. We had a scheduled vacation around July 4, and it was a time of reflection."

I hope that during the time of reflection, Ms. Bee, who received several Emmy nominations in the wake of the controversy, will reflect on the possibly that she is not the only one who was affected by her vulgarity.

She might also use her down time to look up this word in the dictionary: solipsistic.

And maybe hire a funnier joke writer.

Hot Air commented on Ms. Bee's interview too.
