IWF Features Top Addiction Policy Experts at Opioid Event

by Ericka Andersen Sylvester

The opioid crisis continues to take the lives over over 90 people a day in the United States. A new report from the from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) shows that things aren't getting much better, despite a powerful public awareness campaign. Overdose deaths have increased by 10% from 2016 to 2017.

The Trump Administration has created a Commission on the Opioid Crisis and Congress recently passed a massive package aimed at fighting the epidemic. Local communities and individuals have also recognized incredible toll this addiction is taking on friends, family members and neighbors.

Independent Women's Forum special guests include Charmaine Yoest, Associate Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy for the White House, and Jessica Hulsey Nickel, President and CEO of Addiction Policy Forum. On Wednesday, September 12th, we will be holding an event to discuss the opioid crisis and what people can do to help make a difference.

Join us at the National Press Club for breakfast at 8:30am, followed by a discussion featuring these two incredible speakers with opening remarks by IWF's Ericka Andersen, whose new book documents the affects of parental drug addiction in one man's life.
