Panicked Climate Change Supporter Advocates for Eating Babies While AOC Shrugs it Off

by Patrice Lee Onwuka

The hysteria over climate change has gone so far that now advocates are calling for cannibalism starting with babies.

Last week, Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was confronted by a climate change supporter at a town hall meeting. The young woman said that we only have “months left” because of climate change and such desperate times call for desperate measures--as desperate as eating our babies.

Some are calling the bizarre episode a stunt.

As a mother of a healthy nine-month-old baby, I am disturbed that young people are even thinking this way.

Even more disturbing is that lawmakers like AOC, who back dramatic climate change proposals, refuse to push back on this dangerous rhetoric and educate misguided young people about the truth. The blame for this hysteria lays at their feet and they are pretending as though there’s nothing wrong.

For those who didn’t watch the video, the New York Times reported what happened:

At a crowded town-hall-style meeting hosted in Queens on Thursday by Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a young woman stood up and began addressing the climate crisis.

“Your next campaign slogan has to be this,” she said, removing her jacket to reveal a T-shirt that said, “Save the Planet, Eat the Children.”

“We got to start eating babies,” the woman said. “There’s too much CO2. All of you, you know, you’re a pollutant.”

She added, “we don’t have enough time..."

The young woman reportedly belongs to the Lydon LaRouche Political Action Committee.

You would expect a member of Congress to correct this young woman rather than placate her dangerous idea.

You would be wrong. Instead, AOC lent her some credibility saying:

“We need to treat the climate crisis with the urgency that it does present,” Ms. Ocasio-Cortez said. She added: “If we act in a positive way, there is space for hope. We are never beyond hope.”

Later on social media, when this exchange went viral, AOC defended her response to this woman by smartly sidestepping the outrageous proposal and shifting the conversation from the substance of the woman’s argument -- kill babies to save the planet -- to being protective of her mental state.

AOC tweeted:

@AOC: This person may have been suffering from a mental condition and it’s not okay that the right-wing is mocking her and potentially make her condition or crisis worse. Be a decent human being and knock it off.

Does AOC have firsthand knowledge that the woman has a “condition” or “crisis”?

While her idea may be insane to most reasonable people, that doesn’t mean she has a mental condition. It does mean that she takes too seriously the hyperbole around climate change from the left of rapidly approaching doom, which AOC has said is just 12 years away if we don’t act, that she may truly think the times call for such a heinous and illegal action as to murder and eat babies.

The steady drumbeat of daily doom and gloom is weighing on the minds of Americans and causing anxiety according to polling.

Just look at these headlines:

The most recent wave of hysteria was fanned by last fall’s infamous U.N. report about worsening floods, hurricanes, more frequent droughts, and other climate disasters that will wipe us out within our generation because of rising global temperatures.

Here’s something to consider though: we’ve had these predictions going back to the 1970s and the doom has yet to end life. In 1988, famous predictions by NASA scientist James E. Hansen about greenhouse gases causing global warming and leading to dire impacts unless we acted, didn’t come to fruition.

What we need is to be reasonable and for our national leaders to quell the hysteria rather than use it for their political purposes.

Should Americans be good stewards of our environment? Absolutely.

So should other nations like China and India, which are far worse aggressors when it comes to polluting our planet.

Those with a green agenda though use the environment to fear-monger so they can push for more government involvement in our economy to attempt to control the climate. Instead of being balanced, they use fear to whip up political support.

Unfortunately, it leads to the anxiety on display today and the belief that ideas which would never be conceivable suddenly become reasonable.
